As a pioneer of the New York underground dance music movement, he is long associated with the cultural phenomenon. Victor Simonelli is religiously followed by clubbing fans and his peers worldwide. It all started for Victor Simonelli as a youngster growing up in Brooklyn, New York. Guided by his parents’ enthusiasm he was enrolled in piano, drum, and guitar lessons. His eclectic listening diet ranged from jazz, blues, electronic, disco, to world music. Through these developmental years, Victor found his calling by listening to local radio shows hearing DJ’s mixing tracks together. Victor first started DJing at local parties in the early 1980’s making a serious name for himself. His production talents were recognised by the legendary producer Arthur Baker who recruited him for Shakedown Studios. Victor went on to work on projects for David Bowie, Talking Heads, Quincy Jones, Deborah Harry and Sinead O’Connor.
Since 1990 Victor has been perpetually involved in a plethora of high-profile projects for artists such as Chaka Khan, Ray Charles, James Brown, and many others. His list of accolades and achievements is of an exceptional standard. His talents on the decks are equally recognised and respected. Victor’s DJ sets are committed to unique sounds that sweep you away on an uplifting, spiritual journey.
