Selectress Iriela (IRIE-LA) has been rocking international dance floors since 1996 with a sound that is intensely soulful and rhythmic, transcending genres and encompassing the learnings of her global travels from Egypt, Peru, Jamaica, Nepal, India, to Iceland, Scotland and Singapore to Japan and the underground clubs of Berlin and beyond.
Based out of New York City, producer and music evangelist Iriela began her journey in the nineties on 88.9FM WERS Boston. While shooting films in Kingston, Jamaica, Iriela founded production company and tech platform, Second World and created a re-imagined Live Aid: Culture Fest International, which is the premiere regenerative empowerment festival celebrating dance music culture.
Iriela has worked alongside artists such as Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, Lady Starlight, DJ Scratch, Amp Fiddler, Chaka Khan, Louie Vega, DJ Spinna, Sly and Robbie, The Wailers, Toots Hibbert, Yellowman, Mutabaruka, DJ Kool Herc, Easy Mo Bee, Just Blaze, Natasha Diggs and Tony Touch, fashion designers Elie Tahari, Voz, and Anna Sui. Making regular appearances the world over, she’s performed at storied institutions from the hills of rebel Maroon settlements of Jamaica to the legendary CBGBs, Output, and Francois K’s iconic Deep Space at Cielo, IRIE FM airwaves of Jamaica, New York Fashion Week, and her residencies at Samsung, 1978 Events, Sunset Boogie, Global Groove, and Second World Sessions.
