Reno Renatama is a force to be reckoned with in Indonesia’s underground music industry. He has had a deep relationship with music ever since he was a child, and his unshakable passion for the craft has allowed him to become a skilled music producer and DJ in the local underground scene for over a decade. Some of his most renowned tracks include Law of Closure, earning thousands of streams on online music platforms after being played by Green Velvet.
Reno’s production style highlights ethnic Indonesian instruments and sounds such as the gamelan and voices of Sinden singers. These beautiful sounds intertwined with electronic music elements create wonderful music that celebrates Indonesia’s culture whilst rocking the underground music scene with its creative ingenuity.
This playfulness with music production also reflects on Reno’s identity as a DJ. His sets and mixes play around dark, driving basslines, groovy melodies, percussive beats and ethnic sounds within the minimal, deep tech, house, and tech house realm. His out-of-the box musical style mixed with his ability to entertain within the wide spectrum of house and techno has made him a household name in the country’s nightlife scene as a resident DJ for Jakarta’s finest clubs such as Jenja, Kilo Lounge, Diaginjo and BOF. His years of experience in the industry has even allowed him to share the decks with some of the biggest DJs in the game, such as Oliver Huntemann, Adana Twins, Dubfire, Solardo and many more.
Reno’s most recent project is as one of the owner of a new music label, Sala Records, with the aim of providing Indonesian electronic music producers a creative outlet, and help move the Indonesian electronic music industry forward.
